Collection: Filament Wound Carbon Fiber Tubes

Filament Wound Carbon Fiber Tubes Built for Axial Rigidity

Reaction Composites manufactures filament wound carbon fiber tubes in the United States using Toray T700S carbon fiber and a proprietary epoxy resin system. Our stock tube construction prioritizes stiffness along the tube’s length, making it a practical starting point for lightweight structures that must resist stretching, compression, and bending.

The laminate combines predominantly low-angle, axial reinforcement with an outer ±45° layer. This off-axis reinforcement helps stabilize the tube wall and carry shear loads, complementing the axial fibers. Buckling resistance still depends on tube diameter, wall thickness, unsupported length, and mounting conditions.

Applications include robotic links, automation equipment, drone arms and spars, camera supports, automotive braces, and other structural assemblies where controlling weight and deflection matters.

Representative technical properties include:

• Typical longitudinal Young’s modulus: approximately 45 GPa / 6.53 Msi.
• Demonstrated ultimate flexural strength: approximately 552 MPa / 80.1 ksi.
• Typical composite density: 1.55 g/cm³.
• Inside diameter tolerance: ±0.005 inch.
• Outside diameter tolerance: ±0.010 inch.

The modulus and flexural strength values reference testing of our RC00750 tube, with a 0.750-inch ID and 0.990-inch OD. They are representative values rather than guaranteed minimum design allowables for every size.

Rated for use up to 250°F; confirmation is required for expected loads or critical applications.
